THE ROYAL NAVAL CORDITE FACTORY-HoltonHeath
A general view of the factory, taken around 1917. In the far distance is Poole Harbour. In the middle distance is the group of buildings comprising the acids factory. The foreground shows building AB1 which housed a nitration house (part of the nitroglycerine factory). The long wooden shed at left was the nitrators "charge house" from which the glycerine and acid were dispatched by gravity feed to the nitration house.
